Each Year, Pueblo Rotary 43 accepts nominations for high school sophomores or juniors that show leadership skills to participate in Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Training Retreat. Nominees can be your relative,  neighbor, friend or co-worker’s children.

Leadership Retreat is June 6-9, 2025

Location:  Colorado Springs, Colorado at the La Foret Conference and Retreat Center

What is RYLA?  Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is a retreat to assist high school students in developing leadership skills. The program centers on an intense, professionally led, three-day leadership training retreat. Local Rotary clubs cover the cost of the training weekend and travel mileage. Transportation to the retreat is the student’s responsibility. More information can be found at https://www.rylaintherockies.org/.

Who should attend RYLA? RYLA is designed to work with current year high school students that are beginning to show signs of leadership or the potential for leadership in their school and community. Successful applicants are in good standing at school and are actively involved in clubs, sports teams or community groups.

How are students selected to participate?  Students are nominated by teachers, counselors, principals, community leaders or Rotarians. Nominators should tell the student why they would like to nominate them. They should have a serious conversation about what you see in the student and what the student can learn.

How to Nominate a student for the RYLA award.
If the student is interested, complete the Rotary 43 RYLA Nomination Form (closed for 2025) and indicate why you feel this student would be a good candidate. Have the student email their resume and a brief paragraph, 100 words or less,  telling us “Why I Want to Attend RYLA.”,  to sherri.baca@pueblolibrary.org.  Pueblo Rotary #43 committee will interview the finalists and make a selection for the awards.  If you have any questions, please call Sherri Baca at 719-562-5652.
